Project~ETHER
Project~ETHER (Ethical Tech Ecosystem for Human Rights) is a program that is centred around implications of technology and its use on society. We have three pillars that focus on labour, environment and democracy. We advocate for safe, ethical use of technology to advance democracies, establish a fair digital economy and ensure that climate and environmental justice is guaranteed.
WHO ARE WE
Project~ETHER (Ethical Tech Ecosystem for Human Rights) is a Siasa Place program that aligns with our strategic focus on youth employment, engagement, and technology’s political implications.
We foster a safe, empowering, and human rights-compliant labor market within Kenya’s tech and gig industries.
Supported by the Ford Foundation, we advocate for fair platform work, recognition of digital labour, and regulations that hold Big Tech accountable.
What We Do
We believe in creating spaces where voices are heard, labor is valued, and every contribution matters.
Project~ETHER is driven by the people who power Africa’s digital economy, in various capacities, from workers to civil society members, academics and cultural workers working together to build a just, sustainable, and inclusive tech landscape.
